About the Program
"Ambe Daga Wiisinidaa" means "Come on, let's eat" in Anishinaabemowin. Over the course of ten weeks, under the instruction of a local Indigenous chef, Southeast relatives will learn how to prepare and cook their own home cooked meals.

Participants will learn to make:

  • Bannock tacos with beef chili
  • Beef stew with baked bannock
  • Sweet and sour meatballs with wild rice
  • Turkey and wild rice soup with side salad
  • Bannock pizza with spinach and strawberry salad
  • Mac and cheese with fried chicken and coleslaw
  • Chicken Alfredo with garlic bread
  • Stuffed chicken breast with mashed potatoes and gravy
  • Wild rice and sausage stirfry
  • Bannock pops with sweet potato wedges

This program is open to all Southeast families that come from any of the eight Southeast Manitoba Communities. Child-minding will be on-site.

Date & Location:
Ambe Daga Wiisinidaa begins in-person on March 3, 2022, and will run every Thursday for 10 weeks with the final session being May 5, 2022. Program runs from 5:30pm to 8:00pm at the Sargent Tommy Prince Place at 90 Sinclair Street.
